Scholarship Program and Guidelines:
PURPOSE:
The Houston Air Cargo Association is made up of the vast number
of member employees supporting our industry; i.e. the Airlines and
Airline related Handlers, the Airport Authority, Forwarders, Brokers,
Packers, Truckers, Advertisers, Development Companies, Hotels, Educators,
Chamber of Commerce and Banks, to name a few. These companies serve
Houston Intercontinental Airport as well as Hobby and our surrounding
airports.
The
Scholarship Program is designed to help member families raise money
for dependent's college education. The association, recognizing
a continuing need, has endeavored to raise money for students interested
in attending college, but finding barriers to funding said education.
These
scholarships are intended to assist students in the pursuit of careers
in international business, transportation, trade or banking. By
funding students in these fields, we help ourselves and future members
continue the dream of a college education, with a rewarding and
challenging career. An independent panel of impartial judges
will award scholarships.

AWARD AMOUNTS:
Scholarship amounts may vary, depending upon award placement (1st,

Board will make the final determination of available funds and scholarship
amounts.
USE OF FUNDS:
The Scholarship can be used to pay for direct educational expenses
such as tuition, fees, books, and supplies until funds are exhausted.
The student understands that receipt of funds for more than one
term or semester is dependent up on the student making satisfactory
progress towards an educational degree.
Students are not eligible to receive cash back from the balance
of the scholarship unless they are being reimbursed for expenses
related to their classes.
UNUSED FUNDS:
If the student fails to enroll, or drops out of school, all unused
funds are to be returned to the HACA Board for a determination of
future funding.
The Board will determine if extenuating circumstances prevented
the student from attending and that decision will determine if the
student may still receive the funds.
